The Three Amigos

What is it about this time of year that makes me want to clean, paint, and redecorate?!!
I think that after Christmas I'm just ready to de-clutter!

Since Christmas, the dining table has been covered with my wonderful husband's big kid present from me... A gas powered, remote controlled truck that goes extremely fast. According to a 32 year old man it's Awesome!

He has been working on it and so it's million little parts have been spread out.
Not a big deal but I'm just kinda over it.
So I gathered it up and put it in plastic bags and a big box which is now sitting in the bed room floor until I'm "over it" sitting in there.

What to put on the table now that its clean...hmmm...
The Three Amigos! Yes! Perfect!

These bowls are so heavy! I especially like the giant one in the middle!

These belonged to Steve's Grandma and she gave them to me before she died.
They were to heavy for her to lift them.

I love them!

The End.

The weather was perfect!! Even a little chilly. It totally felt like fall!
We also went to a tractor show. It was the least I could do for my fantastic husband after he stood all day at the CLF!!!

Gifting

I had a wedding shower to attend a last week so I looked to Pinterest, of course, for inspiration!
I went with a Yellow theme and added some of my favorite things inside a great jar! I love jars and containers!

It was fun to put together and even more fun to give!

Favorite Thing

Last week I shared a tutorial on how to make a ditty bag. I used the bags as part of my favorite thing to give away. Seriously if you have never been to a Favorite Thing party....have one! They are so fun becuase you don't know what your going to get and you leave with great new ideas and items to try!
Anyways, I wanted to share the rest of my favorite thing. So her you have it....
Here are the finished bags. I made 5 of them.

And inside are these yummy almonds! If you like the raosted nuts that you get at festivals you'll love these. I found them at the grocery store in the nut isle and they are so good!

Everyone received a goody bag. I had these little brown bags and so I stamped a little design on them.

Inside the goody bags were these cute recipe cards. They were in the back of my Farm Chicks book and I took them and had copies made and bundled them up with yarn. The bags also contained chocolates, small hand sanitizer, and Mary Kay samples.

It was a lot of fun! I recommend getting some of your friends together and having a Favorite Things party!

Ditty Bag Tutorial

I mentioned that I was hosting a Favorite Things party at my house this week so I thought I would share one of my favorite things to make!
The Ditty Bag, at least that is what I call it. It can be used for many things, shoe bag for when your traveling, bread bag, stuff it and use it for home decor.  It can be any size. You can use any fabric and it takes about 5 minutes to make. Literally. I love projects that offer instant gratification.

So here we go...

1. Cut the fabric in a rectangle. I used a 20''x16'' piece
2. Fold in half. Right sides together. I used drop cloth fabric so both sides look pretty much the same.

3. Sew around three side leaving one end open for the top of the bag. I also left the top edge raw because I liked the way it looked.

4. I then cut a piece of twill tape or ribbon 20'' to 22'' long

5. Fold it in half to locate the center and when you fold it, it leaves a little crease which makes it easy to see.

6.  Pin the ribbon to the bag at the side seem about 2''-3'' down from the top.

7. Attach the ribbon with your sewing machine. I made a few stitches going both directions to make it secure.

8. You are done sewing! You can leave it like this and tie it up or continue on.

9. I added a design to the front by using a stencil and fabric paint. I put a piece of cardboard in the bag so the paint wouldn't bleed through.

10. Finished bag!

Super easy! Now you have to wait to see what Favorite Thing I put inside the ditty bag!

The Little Things

Here are a few things that have just made me happy lately. They are cute and fun and I encourage you to search them out!

A small Le Crueset pot that is a lovely orangie red. It's the perfect size. I think its three quarts.

Homemade croutons. Cut up bread that is getting a little stale, melt some butter, add some spices, mix and bake on a baking sheet until brown and toasted.  Yummm.

Spring covers on my magazines. I love all the flowers! I am so ready for Spring!

I am loving these little baby butter sticks. They are half of a stick of butter and I think they are cute! Silly I know but they make me happy.

Homemade waffles! Yummy and so easy to do! The recipe makes more than we can eat so I freeze the rest and pull them out and put them in the toaster when I need a quick breakfast.

A book by Mary Jane Butters. I love this book and have been wanting one for my own for a long time. I would get it from the library all the time and I finally purchased one for my very own.

Mary Jane even signed it for me!

The pictures are so beautiful! This book makes me smile over and over again!
Check it out!

Have a great weekend friends!!
