Life....

So, I'm sitting in the hospital waiting room with my family. My dad is having another surgery. We are all pretty worried but we are pretty sure everything will be ok. Please pray for him and my mom.

Life has been so crazy the last two months. Stressful to say the least! I'm so glad God is in control! We just have to put our trust in him.

So that is why Red Barn Revival has been sparse lately. Thank you for understanding.

Update

Well, its been another week since my last post. I feel like we have been going a million directions and have got nothing accomplished! I hate that!

Dad is doing better. Pray that his surgery goes well. He will be having his gallbladder out some time this coming week. Then he will be off another few weeks. He is not aloud to eat any fat! Which is really hard. There is fat in everything!

We are celebrating my moms birthday tomorrow. Her birthday is on Valentines day so we are doing it early. She can't have gluten and dad can't have fat!! Impossible! So my sissy is making a fat free dessert, I'm doing a gluten free dessert, and my SIL is making a normal yummy dessert!

I have been looking for upholstery fabric for two chairs and an ottoman that were given to me. First of all, I'm having sticker shock...I mean there are some good prices out there if you need one or two yards but I need 20!! Not to mention the only fabric I found that I like, out of four different stores, is $30 a yard!!! Yeah, not happening! So that is kinda on hold until I get to Lowe's. I'm thinking about drop cloths...?? What do you think?

We are having a craft night this Saturday. We have several different crafts planned that will be a lot of fun. I am in charge of the T-Shirt crafts and have three different crafts that I'm excited to share! I hope to have pictures for you in a few days! We have about 20 girls coming!

You might have heard that I was really missing the snow that we normally have this time of year...well I have come to the conclusion that I am ready for spring and warm weather. I see spring flowers starting to pop up and am ready to start thinking about my garden...until.....this afternoon when I heard that we will be under a winter weather advisory for the next few days and could get 1-3 inches of snow!! It never fails!! Oh, well.

So that is an update.

Blessings to you all!

My Week In List Form

Because i'm a list maker.....

1. Wednesday sick with a cold, my love informed me that I looked like Rudolph due to my red nose. Spent the next few days feeling yucky and on and off the couch.

2. Phone call at 5am Sunday that my dad was in the Hospital

3. Spend the day at the Hospital..tiring

4. Worn out Monday...go the grocery and that's about it....My love goes out of town for two days with work

5. 4pm Monday get a phone call that dad is on his way back to the Hospital..wishing my love was with me

6. Spend Monday evening and all Tuesday at the Hospital...missing my love terribly...love gets home 1am

7. Wednesday back to the hospital, dad is improving some, four hours later get home and wash the truck

8. Thursday back to the Hospital to spend most of the day, take mom lunch and wait on the Doctor...dad may get to go home!!

I'm sorry this isn't very fun or interesting but this is my life right now. On a happier note, the sun has been out and it has been somewhat warm that's why the truck got washed! Please pray for healing for my dad.

Hopefully next week will be more calm and I can blog about something interesting and more light-hearted!

Snowy Wishes

These are not current pictures but old ones. You see I am really wanting some snow. We had some flurries and a little stuck to the ground but I'm talking about real snow! Like a few feet of snow!
It seems like snow makes the outside world so peaceful and quiet. I love it!

So here are a few old snowy pictures that I am really envious of!

For those of you who have snow...enjoy your warm cozy homes!!

Fruits of My Labor

This time of year is when I'm so thankful for the time I took to make yummy jams back in the summer!
There is nothing like warm bread with butter and homemade strawberry jam. Or peach, I have that too!
Its a fabulous combination!
I am also using up all those green beans I complained about and boy am I glad I have them!

We had our first real snowy and cold day today! With the wind chill it feels like 3 degrees out! Burrrrrrrr...

Have a blessed day! I know I am!

P.S I wanted to share with you this bread I found at the grocery. It is by Pillsbury and its in one of those biscuit cans, you know the kind you bang on the counter to get them open. Anyways, I never buy that stuff but this is new and it is called "Simply". It has no artificial ingredients or preservitives. So I thought I would try it for those days when homemade bread isn't in my schedule. It was pretty good.Something I would buy again. I try and buy mostly natural or organic foods, so I was happy to find this!

Better Late than Never

So I just realized I have never posted any pictures from Christmas day. So here are some of my side of the family. Not sure what happened at my inlaws. Usually my love takes the pictures but I think he forgot!

My parents house is small so we squeeze in tight. I wouldn't have it any other way. I love being at my parents on Christmas!

BB gun! Oh yeah now he has the full attire!!

This is my nephew getting the Survival Knife that my husband wanted to get him against my better judgement. Needless to say it was "THE" gift. So far no accidents have been recorded! Whew....

Mittens made by my SIL over at VanHook and Co.

Mighty getting her new hair barrettes put in.

Ready for work!

It was a very fun day!!

I hope everyone is having a blessed week!!

Back to Normal

This week I have been trying to get things back to normal. Back to a routine of sorts. I like routine.
I was sick with a stomach bug the first of the week...yuck!

Took all the Christmas decor down and the house looks so bare. I love all the sparkles that come with Christmas it does make our house so cozy but I was ready for a bare, clean, un-cluttered house. It was like taking a deep breath. It is restful for me.
Although the tree is still laying in the front yard waiting to be taken to the burn pile.

I also buy a new planner every year and I really enjoy sitting down to look through the old one and transfer all the important dates and Birthdays to the new one.
It makes me remember what all we did last year and some of the things that happened. It is a journal of sorts.
For instance when we took my nephews to the base ball game and the car got towed and my nephew, dramatically, thought he would never see his mother again, and suggested we should ask the homeless guy for money! Fun times!

And here is a random picture...I love barns!

Hopefully my next post will be more interesting!

Happy weekend!
