The Revival of this Red Barn

This is our barn. I love our barn. I always wanted a barn and God gave me the desires of my heart in every way including a barn! God is so good and kind!

This barn is approximately 150 years old. We are not completely sure of the age but this our estimate considering the beams and building materials.
The former home owners did nothing to take care of this barn or anything else for that matter. We have been waiting for almost 8 years to tackle the barn and we are finally able to do it.

So last week my Love and my BIL and FIL started at it...

This is the back of the barn. It takes all the weather so it was really bad! You can see the red door that we cut in several years ago so we could clean it out right into the dump truck. There was a foot of trash and straw on the entire floor of the barn. It doesn't look like it from here but when you stand inside the barn there is so much light flooding in the inside of the barn from all the holes and gaps in the siding.

They put rolled roofing across the back to make it more weather tight. The foundation has some issues that we will have to address later on. This stuff is so expensive!!

This is the end next to the silo. Some of the boards were replaced before we moved in. I love the rock foundation on this side! I also love the patina on this end, but we have to cover it up.

This is the end next to the garage. They had rigged this weird gutter thing that has actually caused more damage than helped it.

Stay tuned for more on the Red Barn.....Revival!

Ty's Birthday

I didn't realize how behind I was on blogging until I went through my pictures and came accross Ty's Birthday! It was over 3 weeks ago!
Here's a little peek...
Every boy needs a fishing pole!

It was an enjoyable evening!

Where to start...Weekend Trip

I have so many things to say but don't know where to begin! We have been busy in our neck of the woods. I have a ton of pictures to share and a few fun things as well.
So, I will start with a little trip we took a few weeks ago!

We went to Dale Hollow, a lake in Tennessee. We stayed in a friends cabin and had a very relaxing weekend.

It rained most of the time but that was ok with me!

We sat on the porch and listened to the rain and I read a book!

We spent one day exploring a little town close by. It had a few good antique stores and we enjoyed lunch at a local diner.

There were several neat old buildings in the town square!
This one use to be the bank.

It was a great weekend with my Love!
He is so much fun to be with!

Summer Bounty

Summer is in full swing and  I am loving it!! The heat wave has passed and it has been pleasantly in the 80's this week.
Last week I spent most of my days in the cooler inside canning peaches!

We have peaches in light syrup and peach jam!! Its a lot of work but so fun when you are all done!!

Today i'm making zucchini bread! It is super moist due to crushed pinapple and very yummy I might add!

Have a beautiful day!

Just a Quick Hello

Hello Friends, how is your week going?
We have been busy around here. I am helped out with a kids camp at church in the mornings last week and then the regular house stuff in the afternoons.

It has been beautiful weather here. However, we have had a few days of 100 degrees!!!
This wonderful old farm house doesn't have central air. Only a window unit in our bedroom, so that might be where I hang out. We'll see.

The garden is doing great and all of my flowers are doing good. I just have to stay on top of watering them everyday.

I just wanted to say hello and wish you a blessed day!
