Snowy Wishes

These are not current pictures but old ones. You see I am really wanting some snow. We had some flurries and a little stuck to the ground but I'm talking about real snow! Like a few feet of snow!
It seems like snow makes the outside world so peaceful and quiet. I love it!

So here are a few old snowy pictures that I am really envious of!

For those of you who have snow...enjoy your warm cozy homes!!

Fruits of My Labor

This time of year is when I'm so thankful for the time I took to make yummy jams back in the summer!
There is nothing like warm bread with butter and homemade strawberry jam. Or peach, I have that too!
Its a fabulous combination!
I am also using up all those green beans I complained about and boy am I glad I have them!

We had our first real snowy and cold day today! With the wind chill it feels like 3 degrees out! Burrrrrrrr...

Have a blessed day! I know I am!

P.S I wanted to share with you this bread I found at the grocery. It is by Pillsbury and its in one of those biscuit cans, you know the kind you bang on the counter to get them open. Anyways, I never buy that stuff but this is new and it is called "Simply". It has no artificial ingredients or preservitives. So I thought I would try it for those days when homemade bread isn't in my schedule. It was pretty good.Something I would buy again. I try and buy mostly natural or organic foods, so I was happy to find this!

Better Late than Never

So I just realized I have never posted any pictures from Christmas day. So here are some of my side of the family. Not sure what happened at my inlaws. Usually my love takes the pictures but I think he forgot!

My parents house is small so we squeeze in tight. I wouldn't have it any other way. I love being at my parents on Christmas!

BB gun! Oh yeah now he has the full attire!!

This is my nephew getting the Survival Knife that my husband wanted to get him against my better judgement. Needless to say it was "THE" gift. So far no accidents have been recorded! Whew....

Mittens made by my SIL over at VanHook and Co.

Mighty getting her new hair barrettes put in.

Ready for work!

It was a very fun day!!

I hope everyone is having a blessed week!!

Back to Normal

This week I have been trying to get things back to normal. Back to a routine of sorts. I like routine.
I was sick with a stomach bug the first of the week...yuck!

Took all the Christmas decor down and the house looks so bare. I love all the sparkles that come with Christmas it does make our house so cozy but I was ready for a bare, clean, un-cluttered house. It was like taking a deep breath. It is restful for me.
Although the tree is still laying in the front yard waiting to be taken to the burn pile.

I also buy a new planner every year and I really enjoy sitting down to look through the old one and transfer all the important dates and Birthdays to the new one.
It makes me remember what all we did last year and some of the things that happened. It is a journal of sorts.
For instance when we took my nephews to the base ball game and the car got towed and my nephew, dramatically, thought he would never see his mother again, and suggested we should ask the homeless guy for money! Fun times!

And here is a random picture...I love barns!

Hopefully my next post will be more interesting!

Happy weekend!

Happy New Year!

I can't believe it is New Year's already!! This has been a slower week for me although my love has been working a lot.
I made alot of things for Christmas gifts but couldn't post them. Here are a few of them..

Covered button earrings. My favorite pair I didn't get a picture of. They were plaid!

I packaged them in cute little bags with tags I cut out from a bag I had.

Necklaces made from old spoons that I bought at an auction.

I also made a dress for Mighty, a cute apron for SIL, a skirt for another niece, a batman backpack, and something else I can't remember. I forgot to take pictures of them because I was wrapping as soon as I got them done!!

I wish everyone a very Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas Time is Here!!!

I want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas!! What a wonderful time of year this is. So much excitement and beauty and yummy goodies!
This is what I'm eating today!
The Pioneer Woman's Cinnamon Rolls!! Delish!

I was reding my Bible this Christmas Eve morning and came across this verse that reminded me of what we should be doing at Christmas and through out the entire year...

My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.
1 John 3:18

Merry Christmas

Flannel Wreath

I have been home this week wrapping presents, making gifts, and just really enjoying being home. I am so thankful that I don't have to work full time. I am hoping to be done with all the Christmas shopping this week. Only a few more things to buy. I love buying for people.I wish I could do more, even though that's not what Christmas is about it is still fun to do!

Here is a wreath I made from an old flannel shirt. I wanted something with red and green and this worked out perfect. Its super easy! Hope you like it!

Cut the shirt into strips. Two inch strips worked best. I used both sleeves and a little from the back.

I had this straw wreath form a bought at a garage sell for a $1.

Then you just start wrapping the wreath with the strips and hot glue in place.

overlap your strips a little each time.

And just keep wrapping..

...until its all done!

I used a strip to loop around the top to hang it from.

And made a bow and hot glued it on as well.

Then hung it from the windows above the couch!

Quick and easy!
I hope to start baking some yummies today! Merry Christmas Time!

p.s. Its been 6 days without catching mice!!! I think I might put my kitchen back in order!
