A Little Organizing

Hello friends! I have spent the day at home and it makes me so happy!!!
I have been loving on my house a little bit and it feels so good when I'm all done with a clean house!

The master bath, well we don't really have one. It is right off the living room and the only full bath in this old farm house. The vanity in this bathroom kinda belongs to me. At least I took it over from the very beginning. My husband has very few beauty items so they go in the half bath which is also our laundry room. I know...kinda confusing. Just keep in mind this is an old house!

So this is my drawer in the bathroom vanity.

It holds all of my makeup, brushes, pony tail holders, headbands, moisturizer, nail polish and file, and a bunch of miscellaneous stuff.

It drives my husband CRAZY! He hates how messy it is, so I decided to clean it out!

Isn't that so much better! Can you tell the difference? I think I can. You wouldn't believe how much stuff I threw out. Really I did.

I love organizing!

Prayer

Lately Steve and I have been dreaming alot about different things. There are a few business opportunities that might come up. Things that we would like to see happen, but in the back of our minds we think "there's no way, its impossible, not likely to happen".
We dream big but then think that's all it will ever amount to, a dream.

And then I read this...

Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think,
according to the power that worketh in us,
Ephesians 3:20

Wow! I love being God's child. The possibilities are endless!
It is exciting and scary at the same time, to think what God could do, will do, in our lives.
This scripture is now posted on the mirror in the bathroom so we see it all the time!
What a good reminder!

We also have a Bible study in our home on Wednesday nights and the topic this week was prayer. Go figure... and the last thing we did was read this quote...

" Bold prayers honor God, and God honors bold prayers. God isn't offended by your biggest dreams or boldest prayers. He is offended by anything less. If your prayers aren't impossible to you, they are insulting to God."
- Mark Batterson

Love that!!

So friends, pray big this week!

Rustic Cinnamon Hearts

How is everyone today? I'm doing pretty good. I sometimes feel that I am more tired on Mondays than on Fridays! Go figure. Your weekends are suppose to be restful and rejuvenating, preparing you for the week ahead! Anyway, I was kinda tired today.

Over the weekend I made these little hearts to hang on the screen that sits on the mantel. I wasn't sure what I was going to put up there but wanted something for Valentines Day but not a lot of pink and red. So I made these! They were super fun and made your house smell A.MAZ.ING!!

You only need 2 ingredients!!
1 cup Apple Sauce and 1 1/2 cups Cinnamon

That's it!
I bought the cheap stuff at the dollar store.

Mix it together and roll it out to 1/4 inch thick.
You might need to dust the surface with Cinnamon before rolling it out.

Use a skewer to poke a hole.

Bake at 200 degrees for 1-3 hours.
Mine took about 3 or so. You want them to be really hard.

Let them cool and then use a needle to pull your string through.
You might not need the needle but I used cooking twine and it was a little thick.

De-Cluttering the Dining Area

I love putting up all my Christmas decorations but I am also really happy to get them down! By the time Christmas is over I am ready to de-clutter my house!!!
So I did that last week and over the weekend cleaned house and put things back together.
I kept it simple. Which feels so good.

The living room and dining room are one in the same. They share the same space. The table is an antique I bought at a garage sale. It is a square table that has two leaves that come out of the ends and pop up. Usually I leave it as a square but thought I would mix things up a bit and pop the leaves out.

I am really liking it. It almost make the dining area look bigger. Weird I know.

The table cloth is from Target after Christmas clearance!!

I have a wreath that I might put above the mantel.

I LOVE Ironstone. All of which came from garage sales.

I am really loving the old brick and new mantel.

I hope you don't get tired of seeing pictures of the much loved mantel!

I'm on Fire!!!

Happy New Year to you all! I can't believe it is already 2013! Time goes so fast!
We have had some down time the last two weeks which has been nice. School started back up today so I will be back to work this week. I'm ready though, by this time of year everything slows down so I might as well go make some money.

My new year started out on Fire. Literally...We heat our house with an outdoor wood furnace which is great by the way! So we were stacking wood so it would be close to the furnace and I was warming myself by the furnace with the door open. It was like 10 degrees outside!
I turned around to warm my backside for about 1-2 minutes then turned back facing the furnace and my husbands gloves that he placed right above the door were burning!
More like they were melting away, black, and smoking with no fingers left on them! I grabbed them quickly and started to show my husband. He was a little aggravated because he hadn't even worn a hole in them!
He then told me to turn around.
So I did.
He then told me that I might want to go get my hair cut!!!
I about DIED!!!
Ok not die but you get the point! I reached around to feel my pony tail and it CRUMBLED in my hand!!!
This is when I really about DIED!!
I had stood to close to the fire and BURNT about 3 inches of my pony tail!!!
Needless to say I called my salon and told them I had a hair emergency and they got me in to fix my very close call!!!
I had 3 inches cut off and quite a bit of layers to get all the burnt hair out! Did I mention it stunk so bad!! Yuck! What a way to start the new year!
If I hadn't of been so upset I might would have thought to take a picture. Pictures were not foremost on my mind.  Other than that 2013 has been good so far!

Anyway, I wanted to share a picture of the poster I bought my Love for Christmas.

 January2012006_zps15d046f4.jpg photo
It is a 1950's Dodge truck poster that we both really liked so I surprised him with it! We are a big fan of trucks!
It is something that he loves and I actually don't mind hanging it in the house! Usually he wants to hang things that are not exactly what I had in mind for the living room!

Have a great day everyone!
