Just a Thought

Good Morning my friends! I wanted to share a few things as they are on my mind.

I mentioned a few weeks ago about a Favorite Things party that I was a part of, and one of the gifts I left with was a journal. I'm not a big journal kind of person but I have been writing in this one some. I am a list maker so I've been putting my list in it and any other notes I want to got down.

We just finished a study on Daniel at church. It was part video series and one of the speakers was Beth Moore. If you have never done a Beth Moore study I encourage you to do so. Anyways, something she said really stuck with me and I wanted to share it...these are my scribbles from that lesson so they may be kind of random...

Where His presence is, His blessings are- If we ask God into our hearts, life, home, if we beckon HIm to be a part, He will bless. God blesses Obedience! God wants to bless us.
God has good things planned for us, not painless things but good things- Life is not free of heartache and pain but if you belong to the Lord, He gives you grace to make it through. How great to know that God has GOOD things planned for us!
There is power in the SPOKEN word of God- Speaking scripture outloud makes it so real! It makes His promises real. When you pray scripture over someone it transfers the burden to the Word and off of you. I love that we can take our burdens to the Lord! What a relief!

Psalm 84:11
For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.

Fabric Pumpkins and a few things I LOVE!

I love the fall colors and decor. I finally switched out my summer stuff for fall stuff a few weeks ago. I love pumpkins and the textures and colors that they add to the house.
Last year I made two pumpkins from a Simplicity pattern that I can't remember the number of right now and I'm not going to go find out because my feet are propped up and not willing to move. I was so happy with how they turned out. So this year I made three more. They are so easy. Once you make the first one you can roll them out pretty quick! My kind of project!
I found some fabric on clearance at my local shop and I was so excited! I LOVE FABRIC!! Really it's an illness...I've mentioned this before...

It was upholstery fabric and its really good stuff. One was a heavier fabric and it was so easy to work with.

This is one I made last year with just cotton fabric. The pattern says to line it with fusible stuff but I didn't do that. I'm a rule breaker like that...or just lazy.

I also made one out of part of a drop cloth. That fabric is also easy to work with. The hardest part about these pumpkins are sewing on the stem. The stem is smaller than the hole in the top of the pumpkin so you have to gather around the top of the pumpkin and hand stitch the stem on.

I made this little banner out of burlap. I just cut out triangles and then hot glued them to some twine. I had stencils and black paint for the lettering.Super easy and fun!
Notice the cutie pie scale on the left, my great uncle gave it to me a few weeks ago and i love it!! It's from an old hardware store in Cincinnati. I LOVE OLD THINGS!!

Speaking of loving old things...My Lover had his 31st Birthday a few days ago...ok so he's not really old but he's older than me!!! Funny, that when I was a teenager 30 was so old and now it doesn't seem that bad.....I think!
I LOVE YOU babe, you are the most wonderful blessing from the Lord!!

P.S. Sorry I take bad pictures. I really should take a class or something.

Vacation Part 3

Ok, so this is the last post on our vacation I promise!

On our way home we stopped at the ICUEE, its a big construction show. They had all kinds of equipment there and tons of vendors. The reason we went was this...
The Triple Threat Equipment Rodeo

Its a competition on three different pieces of equipment and you do an obstacle coarse on each one. This is right where my love belongs. He loves it!

It's a chance to test your skills against other operators as well as win a trip to Las Vegas for the National Competition where you could win a new truck and skid loader.

My Love did so good! He came in 4th out of 150 other guys! We aren't going to LasVegas but we had fun!! We did win a few t-shirts and hats! My Love is so great at what he does. He has a great talent. He can operate equipment like an extension of his hand. Everyone around us was bragging on him like crazy!

So that's it. Vacation is over...We had a great time but there is no place like home!

Vacation Part 2

The Inn we stayed at last week, the Beaumont, was a really neat place. It use to be a Women's College in the 1800's. During the Civil War Kentucky was a neutral state, so families would send their daughters to the college to get them away from the war. The town was full of historic homes. I love the old architecture and grandeur of the old homes. They have a character that new homes do not have. They have a story. They have survived so much and been a part of so many lives.

Here are some more pictures for you to enjoy!
A fall scene in front of the Inn. I love fall colors

A side view of the main house.

There are three homes that are part of the Inn. This is the Greystone.

This is where we stayed. In the bottom right room. It was small but very nice and clean. I loved the porches on this one. It was directly accross from the main house so we walked across the street for breakfast everyday.

This is a home in town that was for sale. Very Gothic looking. We peeked in the front windows and the wood work was amazing! The inside looked Gothic as well. It made me think of a Haunted house. I could just see a witchy looking lady peering down from the tower with her eerie, cold stare....Once I got past the haunted idea I had brief dreams of moving to Kentucky to start a bed and breakfast. But this house was a little out of my price range.
Don't worry mom I'm not moving anywhere.

This is another home in town that is a Bed and Breakfast.
This was a fun little town to visit. The Inn offered a very nice hot breakfast. It was a much needed few days of rest.

I have one more installment to my Vacation post so stay tuned and I'll show you what we did on our way home! Actually what my Lover did...

Vacation Part 1

This past week we were finally able to get away. I've been waiting all summer for time off with my love. He has been working like crazy, which is a blessing but he needed a break.

We spent the weekend with family that we don't get to see very often in Kentucky. My entire family was there and it was fun visiting with everyone.

This is my clan..

We left that part of Ky. and headed a few hours over to Harrodsburg for a few days.
We stayed in this 1800's Inn. The Beaumont. Very cool.
The inn was located about 10 miles from Shaker Village. Let me warn you there are many pictures. I apologize in advance...
There were so many amazing buildings on this 3,000 acre property. All the buildings were built in the late 1800's and they were all huge.

I loved this back porch! I could totally live here.

My Lover...he's so cute.

Note to self, don't let hubby take pictures of me no matter how much he persist. And GO ON A DIET!!!

I took this pic because I would love to have this piece some day!

This picture doesn't even do this building justice. It was huge and gorgeous inside.

Shaker Village is also where I found this guy.

He is also much larger than the picture makes him seem.

We had a wonderful time. I loved the time I was able to spend with family and my love.

Making up for lost time

I know you all probably think that I have dropped of the face of the earth but I haven't...I'm still hear. Busy with life and enjoying the people around me and enjoying the time of year. Here are some pics from some of the things that we have been doing.
This was in our backyard the other day. We have them around all the time but this one was really close I thought they would be landing. We had one land in our driveway one morning right outside our bedroom window.
We had a girls party with all the girls from my Sunday school class the other weekend. It was a favorite things party. How it works is you bring five of your favorite thing (all five are the same thing). You have all the names in a bowl and draw five out. So five different people get your favorite thing and you leave with five different things!! So fun!
Fun group of girls!
We went to a neighboring town for a Corn Festival. Very fun. It was held by the local tractor club so it was definitely something that my love was in to! They had yummy food, antiques, TONS of tractors, a saw mill, hit and miss engines, and my favorite... Kettle Corn!! Sorry no pictures I ate it too fast!
These were some really neat lanterns, which my love really thinks are cool, so turn your head sideways so you can get a better look, sorry not sure why it's sideways.

Again not the best picture, but this is a tiny hit and miss motor. They had lots of things like this.

This is a 4-cylinder diesel engine but it was HUGE!! It's bolted to ground and pretty cool even if you aren't amazed by an engine like my lover is, this is still cool just because of the size.

Some of the undocumented events that have taken place the last few weeks:

1. The Country Living Fair (no batteries in the camera this day, totally bummed, it's better than Christmas)
2. Our 7th Wedding Anniversary (I love the man I married so much and that's putting it mildly)
3. My 29th Birthday (I'm seriously going to be 30 next year?? It can't be.)

Isn't this fella cute? Huge, but so cute! More about him later.

So I hope this made up for the last few weeks of no post. Thanks for checking back!
