Happy New Year!

I can't believe it is New Year's already!! This has been a slower week for me although my love has been working a lot.
I made alot of things for Christmas gifts but couldn't post them. Here are a few of them..

Covered button earrings. My favorite pair I didn't get a picture of. They were plaid!

I packaged them in cute little bags with tags I cut out from a bag I had.

Necklaces made from old spoons that I bought at an auction.

I also made a dress for Mighty, a cute apron for SIL, a skirt for another niece, a batman backpack, and something else I can't remember. I forgot to take pictures of them because I was wrapping as soon as I got them done!!

I wish everyone a very Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas Time is Here!!!

I want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas!! What a wonderful time of year this is. So much excitement and beauty and yummy goodies!
This is what I'm eating today!
The Pioneer Woman's Cinnamon Rolls!! Delish!

I was reding my Bible this Christmas Eve morning and came across this verse that reminded me of what we should be doing at Christmas and through out the entire year...

My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

Flannel Wreath

I have been home this week wrapping presents, making gifts, and just really enjoying being home. I am so thankful that I don't have to work full time. I am hoping to be done with all the Christmas shopping this week. Only a few more things to buy. I love buying for people.I wish I could do more, even though that's not what Christmas is about it is still fun to do!

Here is a wreath I made from an old flannel shirt. I wanted something with red and green and this worked out perfect. Its super easy! Hope you like it!

Cut the shirt into strips. Two inch strips worked best. I used both sleeves and a little from the back.

I had this straw wreath form a bought at a garage sell for a $1.

Then you just start wrapping the wreath with the strips and hot glue in place.

overlap your strips a little each time.

And just keep wrapping..

...until its all done!

I used a strip to loop around the top to hang it from.

And made a bow and hot glued it on as well.

Then hung it from the windows above the couch!

Quick and easy!
I hope to start baking some yummies today! Merry Christmas Time!

p.s. Its been 6 days without catching mice!!! I think I might put my kitchen back in order!

Christmas Banquet

Happy Saturday everyone. I hope I find you cozy warm with a warm drink!

Anyways, this week I attented a ladies Christmas banquet with my mom and sister, my aunt and her two daughters. We've been doing it for 7 or so years now. It is held at my mom's church. They have a ton of tables decorated all differently. This year my sister decorated our table. She has been doing it the last several years. I think this year was one of my favorites!

Each place setting had a little bucket full of candy and a note pad.

Again sideways pictures!!! I can rotate them in the the Picture library file but then they go back!!
So sorry!

She had three pieces of wood down the center with candles sitting on them.
Greenery, pinecones, very cozy and rustic.

Fun times were had by all!

They other day I watched two of my nephews for my sister while she did some shopping.
So I had them pose for some pictures...that was like pulling teeth!

They are so fun!!

Then my other nephew had his first Christmas program performance! Adorable!

Merry Christmas Friends!!

More Christmas

We have been full of Christmas fun around here! Last weekend we got our tree and attended the annual Horse Carriage Parade...

Actual reindeer at the tree farm... quick story about our first Christmas tree experience...We both grew up with live trees. I love Frasier Fur trees but they don't grow in Ohio so they are pre-cut trees. My love is a take a saw to woods kinda guy who cuts his own tree down. Our first Christmas we went to the tree farm and two hours later, some tears and frustration, we still didn't have a tree!! He wanted to cut one, I wanted a Frasier fur. In the end we each have our own tree. It works out great! Compromise is amazing!

Christmas Elves waiting for the parade to start.
A self portrait... kinda weird...

Big horses
Tiny horses

This is the largest Carriage parade in the country. There were over 120 carriages. I'm sure your glad I didn't take pictures of all 120!

And whats a Christmas parade without Santa and Mrs. Clause!!!

Next up on the Christmas posts, Christmas Banquet with my mom and sissy!!
Have a great day!

Christmas Time

Hello Friends!! I feel like I have been neglecting you all. So very sorry about that!

First things first, the mouse count is up to 14!! And I am embarrassed to say 1 mole...I know who catches moles in there kitchen cabinets. Only me....in this old farm house. I love it in spite of itsself. So needless to say the contents of the kitchen cabinets are still strewn about.

On to more festive things, Christmas is here folks I can't believe it! All the fun festivities have begun! I love this time of year so much. I love to decorate my home. It makes it seem so cozy. I'm so thankful for my home! The Lord is so good! I have to remind myself of that when I find mice...

So last weekend was the kickoff of the Christmas Season and we started it out on Friday evening going to a nearby little village with a ton of antique stores. All the shops were open late and the streets were lined with candles. All the houses were decorated with lights and trees and garlands! And we had dinner in a darling restaurant! It was a fun date with my Love.

So here are some pictures for you to enjoy!
My friends shop. Darling.

Ok, I really wanted you to see this picture but I don't know why its turned wrong!! Ugg! If anyone can tell me how to rotate it I would appreciate it!
Anyways this is the foyer of the restaurant. It is an 1800's house converted into an Inn and Restaurant and very yummy!

Best Pizza place around! And they are the only one that will deliver to our house!

Next up, the tree farm, carriage parade, and Christmas banquet!!

Merry Christmas Everyone!!!

Invasion

OK, things are still crazy busy...

Thanksgiving was wonderful and yummy.

In the midst of Thanksgiving I emptied out 80% of my kitchen cabinets because of the evidence of mice

I hate mice

In the last 6 days we have killed 11 mice. That's right 11!!! So my kitchen table is piled high with everything out of the cabinets because I'm not putting it back until all the mice are gone!!

They are driving me crazy!!

I have started my Christmas decorating...which makes me happy.

Christmas activities are full force starting this weekend!!

I promise pictures in the near future!!

Have a great week friends!!

Office Remodel

If you have been  reading this blog for a while you know about the room that we have been working on for like three years that will eventually be the office... It has been re-framed, insulated, dry-walled, painted, and as of last night the windows are trimmed out! I'm so excited!! They look amazing! My lover and my FIL worked on it last night and will be working on it again today. My goal is to have it move in ready by next Saturday the 12th because we are having my dad a 60th Birthday Party and I want it ready to show off.

So this is what the mud room looks like...
You can barely get in the door!!
This is the wood floor that will be going in the office. My love is such a scavenger!! About 8 years ago he and his dad built a house for a guy who owns a flooring company. The guy put top grade walnut floors in the house but he didn't want any of the knots showing in his floor so they cut all of them out. They were going to throw away the rest of the floor so my love took it home where it has been waiting to be put to good use!
The only problem was that it was in the top of his dads garage and it was all in a bunch of pieces. It was no longer bundled so we had to carry it down in stacks! Wew! did I get my exercise! But it was free!!!

I will keep you posted!!!

Just a Thought

Good Morning my friends! I wanted to share a few things as they are on my mind.

I mentioned a few weeks ago about a Favorite Things party that I was a part of, and one of the gifts I left with was a journal. I'm not a big journal kind of person but I have been writing in this one some. I am a list maker so I've been putting my list in it and any other notes I want to got down.

We just finished a study on Daniel at church. It was part video series and one of the speakers was Beth Moore. If you have never done a Beth Moore study I encourage you to do so. Anyways, something she said really stuck with me and I wanted to share it...these are my scribbles from that lesson so they may be kind of random...

Where His presence is, His blessings are- If we ask God into our hearts, life, home, if we beckon HIm to be a part, He will bless. God blesses Obedience! God wants to bless us.
God has good things planned for us, not painless things but good things- Life is not free of heartache and pain but if you belong to the Lord, He gives you grace to make it through. How great to know that God has GOOD things planned for us!
There is power in the SPOKEN word of God- Speaking scripture outloud makes it so real! It makes His promises real. When you pray scripture over someone it transfers the burden to the Word and off of you. I love that we can take our burdens to the Lord! What a relief!

Psalm 84:11
For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.

Fabric Pumpkins and a few things I LOVE!

I love the fall colors and decor. I finally switched out my summer stuff for fall stuff a few weeks ago. I love pumpkins and the textures and colors that they add to the house.
Last year I made two pumpkins from a Simplicity pattern that I can't remember the number of right now and I'm not going to go find out because my feet are propped up and not willing to move. I was so happy with how they turned out. So this year I made three more. They are so easy. Once you make the first one you can roll them out pretty quick! My kind of project!
I found some fabric on clearance at my local shop and I was so excited! I LOVE FABRIC!! Really it's an illness...I've mentioned this before...

It was upholstery fabric and its really good stuff. One was a heavier fabric and it was so easy to work with.

This is one I made last year with just cotton fabric. The pattern says to line it with fusible stuff but I didn't do that. I'm a rule breaker like that...or just lazy.

I also made one out of part of a drop cloth. That fabric is also easy to work with. The hardest part about these pumpkins are sewing on the stem. The stem is smaller than the hole in the top of the pumpkin so you have to gather around the top of the pumpkin and hand stitch the stem on.

I made this little banner out of burlap. I just cut out triangles and then hot glued them to some twine. I had stencils and black paint for the lettering.Super easy and fun!
Notice the cutie pie scale on the left, my great uncle gave it to me a few weeks ago and i love it!! It's from an old hardware store in Cincinnati. I LOVE OLD THINGS!!

Speaking of loving old things...My Lover had his 31st Birthday a few days ago...ok so he's not really old but he's older than me!!! Funny, that when I was a teenager 30 was so old and now it doesn't seem that bad.....I think!
I LOVE YOU babe, you are the most wonderful blessing from the Lord!!

P.S. Sorry I take bad pictures. I really should take a class or something.
